Wetting, melting and multiphase
Wetting
Section titled “Wetting”Wetting is on by default. A Fluid moistens nearby Sand, Snow and Elastic particles. Wet Sand and Elastic turn into Mud.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Wetting | on | Fluid moistens nearby porous material. |
| Wetting Rate (/s) | 20 | How fast contact with fluid soaks a particle. |
| Mud Threshold | 0.6 | Wetness above which Sand and Elastic convert to Mud. |
The settings are on the Atom Solver and on the Atom Multiphase node, and in the Wetting section of the sidebar’s Solver panel. Pick Wetness as the viewport colour mode to see it.
Atom Multiphase
Section titled “Atom Multiphase”The Atom Multiphase node lets different Atom materials act on each other. It adds:
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sand-Water Mixture | off | Gives water its own grid so it flows through sand by drag. Wet sand gains cohesion instead of turning to mud. Costs a second grid. |
| Drag (/s) | 40 | How fast water and sand velocities equalize in packed sand. Low means water drains through. |
Melting and freezing
Section titled “Melting and freezing”These live on the Atom Solver.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Melting Point | 0.35 | The temperature (on BLUX’s normalized scale) where snow melts. With Freezing, where water freezes. |
| Latent Heat | 0 | Heat snow absorbs at the melting point before it melts, and water gives back before it freezes. 0 melts at once. |
| Freezing | off | Water colder than the melting point freezes into snow or ice, once its latent heat is out. |
Snow’s Heat Conductivity sets how fast heat reaches it.
Lava and temperature
Section titled “Lava and temperature”Lava cools at its Cooling Rate and changes viscosity from hot to cold, forming a stiffer crust. Temperature is carried on the particles. Pick Temperature as the colour mode to see it, and use it in the lookdev materials, where Volcanic Molten Lava drives its glow from particle heat.
Particles into gas
Section titled “Particles into gas”An Atom simulation can drive a Blaze solver: lava can smoke, and moving sand can raise dust. A Blaze Coupling node filters by temperature, speed or Atom material, so lava smokes while the snow it melts does not. See Particles and gas together.
