The sidebar

BLUX lives in the 3D Viewport’s sidebar. Press N in the viewport and open the Blux Physics Suite tab.

The panels run top to bottom in the order you build a scene:

Panel What it is for Open by default
Blux Physics Suite (main panel) Run, step, reset and bake. The solver picker, kernel state and problems. yes
Scene Setup The graph, Templates, My Presets and the quick setups. yes
Solver The main settings of the active solver. yes
Emitters One card per emitter feeding the solver. yes
Forces One card per force. no
Colliders Make objects colliders, and one card per collider node. no
Output & Look What the result is drawn as, and how it is shaded. no
Bake & Cache Frame range, baking, and what is cached. yes
Export VDB, spritesheet, Alembic, PLY and archives. no
Viewport Display How the simulation is drawn while you work. no
Diagnostics GPU, memory, the worker and solver statistics. no
Shard Inspector Live state of one rigid-body shard. Impact only. no

The sidebar shows the settings you reach for while working. Every setting of every node is on the node itself, in the node graph editor.

  • Run starts the live simulation. While it runs the button becomes Pause, and during a bake it becomes Cancel Bake.
  • Step advances exactly one frame.
  • Reset returns to the first frame and clears stale meshes.
  • Bake bakes the frame range. See Bake & Cache.

Step, Reset and Bake are unavailable while a bake runs. Hover a greyed-out button to see why.

During a bake, a progress bar shows the bake status. During the first run of a solver on a machine, it shows the kernel compile with a percentage when one is known. The note First run per engine only; kept across restarts explains that this wait happens once.

Four buttons, Atom, Blaze, Hydro and Impact, choose the solver the graph runs. The current solver is shown pressed. When the file has no graph yet, nothing is pressed and the panel says Choose a solver to start.

Picking a solver rewires the Simulation Output node to that solver’s node. The first time, BLUX adds a starter solver and emitter. Nodes you already have are kept, so you can switch back.

Row Meaning
Kernels The GPU kernels. Compile on first run, a warm-up progress message, Preparing for this run, Ready (Blaze), or Warm-up failed (see console).
Speed Steps per second and the real-time factor, for example 0.65× real time (slow). Shown once a run has started.

Problems the solver reports are shown in red under the state rows:

  • Errors from the worker, shown when the status starts with Error.
  • Solver warnings, such as clamped time steps or dropped colliders.
  • A particle count that differs from the one you asked for, shown as N of M requested particles.
  • A scene that needs more GPU memory than is free. A box explains it and offers Lower Resolution to Fit. See Out of GPU memory.
