Viewport display and overlays
Viewport Display panel
Section titled “Viewport Display panel”The Viewport Display panel controls how the simulation looks while you work. It does not change the render.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Color Mode | What colours the particles in the viewport and in the automatic render material. |
| Point Size | Size of the particle points in pixels. |
| Point Color | The colour used when Color Mode is Solid Color. |
| Show Sim Preview | Shows the live simulation preview in the viewport. |
| Show Anisotropic Ellipsoids | Hydro only. Draws a wireframe ellipsoid per particle, stretched by the anisotropy covariance tensor, instead of a round point. Needs Enable Anisotropy on the Hydro solver node. Off by default. |
| Particle Attributes (Geometry Nodes) | Adds the ready-made attribute reader node group. See Geometry Nodes. |
| Remove Unused Helpers | Deletes helper objects that no node points to any more. |
Which colour modes exist depends on the solver:
| Solver | Colour modes |
|---|---|
| Atom | Uniform, Velocity, Material, Temperature, Damage, Emitter, Wetness |
| Hydro | Uniform, Velocity, Emitter |
| Impact | Uniform, Velocity, Damage |
| Blaze | none; Blaze is drawn as a volume and its shading is in Output & Look |
If you pick a mode the solver has no data for, the panel says so.
Viewport Overlays
Section titled “Viewport Overlays”Open the Viewport Overlays popover in the 3D Viewport’s header. A Blux Physics Suite section lets you switch each kind of overlay on or off.
| Toggle | Shows |
|---|---|
| Preview | The gas and particle preview. It stays visible even with Overlays off, because it is geometry-like. |
| Domain | The domain bounds. |
| Gas Bounds | The adaptive window of gas. |
| Forces | Wireframes for attractors, vortices, wind, curve forces, kill volumes, ground planes and blasts. |
| Emitters | Emitter shapes and their velocity arrows. |
| Telemetry | Live bond stress lines and proximity bubbles. |
| Bond Stress | 3D lines between bonded shards, colour-coded by tension and shear stress (Impact). |
| Compile HUD | The GPU kernel compile progress bar at the bottom of the viewport. |
| Helper Objects | Shows or hides the BLUX_Helpers collection. Hidden helpers still drive their nodes. |
Every toggle except the preview follows Blender’s own Overlays switch.
Hiding wireframes in renders
Section titled “Hiding wireframes in renders”Under Hide Helpers, Camera View and Rendered hide the BLUX wireframes while you look through the camera or use Rendered shading, so they do not clutter a shot. Both are on by default.
Helpers
Section titled “Helpers”A force, collider or emitter node is placed with a helper: an ordinary Empty (or a curve) that the node follows. Add one with the helper button on the node’s card, then use Blender’s move, rotate and scale. All helpers are in the BLUX_Helpers collection.
A file with no BLUX graph shows no helpers and no wireframes. They appear once a graph exists.
